At the office

Follow these tips to help save money and energy at the office.

  • Switch computers off when not in use. Do not leave them on overnight or at weekends.

  • Likewise, turn monitors, printers, photocopiers and scanners off as well.

  • Switch lights off at the end of the day.

  • Do you need ALL the lights on all day, or can some be switched off and use natural daylight instead?

  • Do you need the heating so high, or the air conditioning working so hard? Make sure that they are turned off at night and at weekends.

  • Try not to print (read on screen instead). If you do need to print, print on both sides.

  • Can a laptop be used instead of a desktop? They use a lot less power.

  • Make sure that the power saving mode on computers comes in after 10-15 minutes of inactivity.
